Welcome to the blog, where we will keep you up to date with Lucinda's latest work and ideas.

Hi everyone. Ella here for this week's blog. This week is my last week working at Lucinda's gallery as Claydon House shuts in Winter, so Lucinda will not be needing my help until it re-opens in Spring. But alas, do not fear! I will still be writing the blog for Lucinda every week, so don't go anywhere!

This week Lucinda is going green! (Lucinda B: Actually I've been green for some while now, but finally found a company based in the UK for my products.) She has signed up as a distributor for Wikaniko a company specializing in eco-friendly products. Her page is : http://www.wikaniko.com/index.asp?un=1005076 where there is a huge range of  products. One of her favourites is the wicked Tahitian CreamOil which is a "Luxurious Body Butter/Body Oil" and it smells so good!

Handmade in Britain by Piyush Suri has been released. Lucinda has placed a copy in the gallery for customers to look at. The book contains some amazing ceramics, metal, glass, furniture, fashion creations and much more. Lucinda is featured on page 19.
Here's a link where you can pre-order it on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Handmade-Britain-Contemporary-Suri-Piyush/dp/1908126388/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1319980264&sr=1-1

Lucinda loves Maya Angelou, having read  the first installment of  her autobiography; 'I know why the caged bird sings.'many years ago. She has heard some of Maya's  poems spoken over jazz tracks before, which works really well. But we couldn't find the the piece. However this one fits just beautifully with this weeks images. Enjoy!

The free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wings
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with fearful trill
of the things unknown
but longed for still
and is tune is heard
on the distant hill for the caged bird
sings of freedom

The free bird thinks of another breeze
on the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn
and he names the sky his own.

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.

And now for a little levity, it's time for this week's humor:

1.  . Whatever happened to number one?? :))
2.  Sex is like air.  It's not that important unless you aren't getting any.
3.  No one is listening until you fart.
4.  Always remember you're unique.  Just like everyone else.
5.  Never test the depth of the water with both feet.
6.  If you think nobody cares whether you're alive or dead, try missing a couple of mortgage payments.
7.  Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
8.  If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
9.  Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day.  Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
10.  If you lend someone £20 and never see that person again, it was probably well worth it.
11.  If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.
12.  Some days you are the bug; some days you are the windshield.
13..  Don't worry; it only seems kinky the first time.
14.  Good judgment comes from bad experience ...  And most of that comes from bad judgment.
15.  A closed mouth gathers no foot.
16.  There are two excellent theories for arguing with women.  Neither one works.
17.  Generally speaking, you aren't learning much when your lips are moving.
18.  Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
19.  We are born naked, wet and hungry, and get slapped on our ass ...  Then things just keep getting worse.
20.  Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night. ( Lucinda.B my personal favorite!)

Last minute post! We are still looking for people to have stands at the craft fair which is part of the Fire-walking event on 4th December. Here at last is the flier. Table fee is just £35 inclusive . Call Lucinda 01296 733984 for more details.
